We Provide Building-Level Support at No Cost to You

How PTS’s Approach to Related Services Program Management Helps Special Education AdministratorsAt PTS, we take a hands-on approach. Our Clinical Directors regularly collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to inform, monitor, and improve student response to instruction and intervention. We oversee related services teams in each building to cultivate a network of educators and therapists who are invested in student outcomes.

Additionally, we provide several building-level supports at no cost to you, including in-class resources for teachers, no-cost teacher trainings, and a system for facilitating more accurate teacher referrals.

Resources for Teachers

Based on our own experience in the classroom, we’ve developed a vast toolkit of additional classroom resources that allow your teachers to support students in their least restrictive environment. No-cost resources include:

  • Pre-Referral Intervention Resources: Our pre-referral intervention resources give teachers concrete suggestions for the classroom so that they can manage more mildly involved students independently, without referring to related services for evaluation.
  • Sensory Boxes for New Clients:  Without the need for a formal referral, teachers have access to many of the tools that OTs recommend for children who are having difficulty staying seated or maintaining focus in the classroom.
  • Our MTSS-RtII Manual: PTS provides districts with an MTSS-RtII manual that contains a template for a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support approach to related services that helps you maximize supports while containing costs.

No-Cost Teacher Trainings

PTS programs are designed to prevent referrals resulting from a lack of appropriate or supplemental instruction. By providing in-service trainings to teachers about various therapeutic techniques, we ensure they have the skills to create a classroom climate that is inclusive and supportive of the needs of all students.

Systems for Facilitating More Accurate Teacher Referrals

Our customized Therapy Referral Forms are structured around a functional checklist of skills that are carefully tailored to each program with input from special education administrators.

With our measured approach, you ensure the majority of students are being exposed to interventions. This can often resolve an issue before proceeding to a formal process of evaluation. As a result, you’re able to eliminate unnecessary evaluations and decrease overidentification and disproportionality.

Easy Compliance Reporting and Service Delivery Documentation

How PTS’s Approach to Related Services Program Management Helps Special Education AdministratorsPTS Clinical Directors participate regularly in pertinent training sessions and pass the most current information along to schools. Our ongoing monitoring of therapist documentation makes sure student records are organized, defensible, and legally compliant with all major State and Federal Special Education laws, like:

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Chapters 14, 15, and 16 of the PA School Code
  • Extended School Year (ESY) as indicated by federal law

As an administrator, you’ll gain the peace of mind of knowing that eligibility determinations are based on sound, legally defensible data.

Documenting Service Delivery with our Proprietary BudgetWatch™ System

PTS’s proprietary BudgetWatch™ system allows our Clinical Directors to track all aspects of your special education program and provide you with the ability to analyze costs, referrals, and special education processes at the building level.

We find that having this detailed data empowers districts to make informed, data-driven decisions about their program, identify areas of opportunity, or create reports for the board. This is the key to driving real, positive change across your district.

BudgetWatch™ also helps you identify potential cost-saving opportunities by getting to the root of what’s required to minimize costs while maximizing the effectiveness of your related services program. Plus, our Cost-Per Child Reports provide administrators with a permanent attendance and service record for every student PTS service. This report enables schools to do two things:

  • Track IEP compliance
  • Document the real cost of each student
