The Role of School-Based Mental Health Professionals
As a school-based mental health professional, you provide a wide range of services to students in both regular and Special Education, including:
- Evaluating and assessing mental health functioning.
- Diagnosing mental health conditions.
- Leading individual and small-group counseling activities.
- Facilitating crisis intervention protocols when necessary.
- Ensuring compliance and delivery of high-quality services.
As a mental health professional engaging with us, you’ll collaborate with a team of experts from other fields to maximize benefits and improve delivery of services to each student. We have found this leads to more effective Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) teams that can better address the root causes of every student’s mental health concerns.
What Sets PTS Apart?
We differ from other staffing agencies because we don’t just place you in school, we go with you. After you begin working as an independent contractor alongside us, you will continue to have access to resources and support, including our optional School-Based Academy orientation, free library of interventions, and more.
Our Clinical Directors will also facilitate communication between you, other service providers, teachers, support staff, and administrators.
Our Whole-Child Philosophy & MTSS Model
In addition to encouraging team collaboration, we apply a Whole-Child Philosophy that aims to build student capacity, not dependency. This approach works with our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Model to move students along the continuum of need.
By matching them with the right level of support, we help contain therapeutic caseloads and ensure each student has the support they need when they need it.
