The Role of a Registered Behavior Technician

The Role of a Registered Behavior Technician

Registered Behavior Technicians support students with a range of behavioral concerns, which may be related to a variety of mental health or social disorders. When working as an RBT in a school setting, you will perform a variety of tasks, including helping conduct student assessments and evaluations as well as:

  • Supporting proper behavioral health intervention implementation
  • Communicating and collaborating with fellow service providers, therapists, administrators, staff, and families
  • Assisting Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts with individualized behavioral interventions for students

As an RBT engaging with PTS, the behavioral health interventions you develop will work together with all the other therapeutic interventions for each child on your caseload. To accomplish this, PTS Clinical Directors will facilitate communication among administrators, clinicians, and teachers. You will also have the opportunity to learn about best practices from related disciplines and share your own knowledge.

Our Integrated Systems of Support Model

We apply an Integrated Systems of Support Model to school-based therapy and related services to support the whole child. What does this mean? Drawing on decades of experience and industry knowledge, we know that students benefit most when their interventions are integrated and aligned across all the services they receive.

This enables providers to address the root cause of each student’s concerns and provide them with both the behavioral and the mental health support they need to fully access their education.

Benefits of Working Alongside the PTS Behavioral Health Team

In addition to working in a collaborative, team-based environment, when you engage with us at PTS, you will have access to guidance and support from one of our Clinical Directors. They are trained therapists who understand the rewards and challenges of working as a school-based service provider. Along with that, you will have access to:

  • Community Facebook group
  • Networking and career development opportunities
  • Free resource library of interventions, assessments, and activities

If you are just starting out or transitioning to a school environment, you will also have the option to attend our annual School-Based Academy that begins every August. During this orientation, you will build the skills you need to succeed in an educational setting, such as conducting assessments, managing your caseload, helping with IEPs, and more.
