What Will You Do as a School Nurse with PTS?
From facilitating normal development to promoting health and safety, school-based nurses support the growth and development of children and youth, as well as students with special needs. A few of the many things school nurses do include:
- Leading interventions
- Identifying intervention outcomes
- Following state and local regulations
- Performing health screening and assessments
- Working one-on-one with students to carry out their care plan
- Developing plans, including Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs)
School nurses act as a vital link between the students’ home, family, and school environments to reduce health-related barriers. To ensure they continue providing the highest quality care, school nurses must participate in ongoing professional development and training throughout their careers.
How Does PTS’s Approach Support Students’ Physical, Social, & Mental Health Needs?
At PTS, we take a Whole-Child Approach to special education and related services. That means, as an RN or LPN, you’ll collaborate with other dedicated service providers, including:
- Social workers
- Case managers
- Clinical Directors
- Mental health service providers
While working as an independent contractor, you may participate on teams like the Committee on Special Education, a student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) team, and/or a Section 504 Team.
By working alongside fellow providers and school personnel, you’ll be part of delivering an Integrated Systems of Support of related services to every student. This ensures they get the best possible–and right level of—care throughout their education journey.
