PT ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

ELEMENTARY PT ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

Gross motor skills are not just important in physical education classes and sports. They provide students with the strength, endurance and coordination they need to participate in activities both in class and with their peers. By incorporating activities that strengthen core muscle groups, students’ posture, ability to focus and even handwriting can improve. These resources give you fun, easy ideas for making gross motor skills part of the day to day routine.

Speech

SPEECH ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

ELEMENTARY SPEECH ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

Incorporating strategies that stimulate language into a student’s daily routine, both at school and at home, can significantly improve their ability to express themselves verbally and participate with their peers. These resources will provide you with easy-to-implement ideas for getting your student to use more complex sentences and build their vocabulary. Just asking questions like, “What was your favorite part about vacation?” vs. “How was your vacation?” will often generate a better, more expressive response than the proverbial, “Fine.” For students who are difficult to understand, we have some helpful strategies that will help you cue them how to speak more clearly and reduce stuttering.

Understanding what is typical in speech/language development is a key skill for both parents and educators. These resources will help you learn about what skills should be present at what age and how to help children move forward in their development. Research shows that the earlier that we help students overcome language, sound production and articulation deficits, the better. “Old habits die hard,” so catching and correcting errors early is much easier in the long run.

SECONDARY SPEECH ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

Even older students can struggle with receptive and expressive language.  While harder to correct on secondary students, these students can learn skills that enable them to self correct and compensate, making them more effective and active participants in your classroom.

Behavior

BEHAVIOR ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

ELEMENTARY BEHAVIOR ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES

Managing challenging behaviors can be a full time job for teachers. Keeping a whole room full of students on task and on track is one of the greatest skills a teacher can have. These tools can give you a deeper level of understanding of why some behaviors occur over and over and how you can change that by changing how you respond. You’ll learn ways to use positive behavioral supports to help ALL your students bring their best selves to school.

Behavior

BEHAVIOR RESOURCES AND LINKS

ELEMENTARY BEHAVIOR RESOURCES AND LINKS

On of the most common requests for training that we hear from teachers is on behavior management. With so many students in your classroom, it sometimes only takes one to get the whole classroom off track. And when are so you are focused on managing behaviors, it can be hard to be effective as an instructor. One of the first principals of behavior management is that the we can’t control the behavior of others, but we can control our response and what the consequence is to someone’s behavior. We also know that positive reinforcement is far more powerful at changing behavior over the long term than punishment. These resources are designed to give you some fresh perspective on the basics principals of behavior and how you can apply them to bring some much-needed consistency and peace to your classroom routine.
